Weekend Picks: July 11-13

There is always something exciting happening in Madisonville- Hopkins County! Whether it’s a festival, a concert, an art exhibit, or connecting with the outdoors, you’ll find several enticing activities on our calendar.

Check out this weekends top picks!

Traditional Quilts by the Piecemakers Quilt Club of Hopkins County

Thru July 13 (Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours on Glema Center event days.)

Glema Mahr Center for the Arts

The Anne P. Baker Gallery will house “Carryin’ on the Tradition XIII,” the 13th bi-annual quilt show by the Piecemakers Quilt Club of Hopkins County.

The exhibit will consist of traditional quilts made by local quilters, and the designs are as varied as the skilled quilters creating them. Members of the Piecemakers of Hopkins County invite the public to view their work and learn not only about the growing and evolving art of quilting, but also about the activities of the club.

The exhibit will feature group projects as well as individual pieces, using both commercial patterns and unique designs by Piecemakers members. Special displays will include community service projects like baby quilts made for Baptist Health Deaconess Neonatal ICU, Build-A-Bed quilts for school aged children, and Quilts of Valor made for our veterans touched by war.
