Tricia Noel of Madisonville Honored as 2024 Mary Hammond Tourism Director of the Year
Madisonville, KY (December 18, 2024) – The Kentucky Association of Conventions and Visitors Bureaus (KACVB) has named Tricia Noel, Executive Director of Hopkins County Tourist & Convention Commission, as the recipient of the 2024 Mary Hammond Tourism Director of the Year Award. This prestigious honor, announced at KACVB’s December meeting in Franklin, KY, recognizes outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing tourism in Kentucky.
A proven leader and advocate for the tourism industry, Noel has not only excelled locally but also on a statewide level. She is a past president of KACVB and served as the 2024 chair of the Kentucky Tourism Industry Association (KTIA), showcasing her deep commitment to promoting the Commonwealth as a premier travel destination.
“Tricia Noel exemplifies the qualities that this award represents—vision, collaboration, and an unwavering dedication to her community and the industry as a whole,” said Lori Murphy-Tatum, KACVB President. “Her impact extends beyond Madisonville, benefiting the entire state through her leadership and advocacy.”
The Mary Hammond Tourism Director of the Year Award is named in honor of Mary Hammond, a tourism trailblazer whose work in Paducah transformed the city into a cultural and tourism hub. Like Hammond, Noel has left an indelible mark on the industry, inspiring her peers and advancing Kentucky tourism through collaboration and innovation.
As a past president of KACVB and a past chair of KTIA, Noel has championed statewide initiatives that highlight the vital role of tourism in Kentucky’s economy, which generates billions of dollars annually while preserving the state’s cultural and natural heritage.
