FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 25, 2025

Madisonville, KY – The City of Madisonville is proud to present Madisonville Salutes, a full-day patriotic celebration honoring our military service members and their families. Join us on Saturday, September 13th, from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Madisonville City Park, 755 Park Avenue, Madisonville, KY 42431, for activities, entertainment, and community spirit.
In addition, the City of Madisonville is proud to host America’s Freedom Tribute, a powerful and moving exhibit honoring the sacrifices of American service members in the Vietnam War and other conflicts. This traveling tribute features a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., etched with the names of more than 58,000 fallen soldiers who gave their lives in service to our country. It also includes the Cost of Freedom Tribute, which honors all other major wars and conflicts, such as WWI, WWII, Korea, Desert Storm, Somalia, 9/11, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Mayor Kevin Cotton expressed the importance of hosting such a significant memorial in the community:
“America’s Freedom Tribute is more than a display—it’s a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of our nation’s heroes. Bringing this exhibit to Madisonville gives our community a place to reflect, honor, and say ‘thank you’ to those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy.”
America’s Freedom Tribute serves as both a historical exhibit and a place of healing for veterans, families, and all who wish to remember the cost of freedom. Its presence at the Madisonville Salutes Event offers a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to experience the power and reverence of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial without traveling to Washington, D.C.
The Traveling WWII Memorial will also be on display. The WWII Memorial consists of the Wall of Stars (aka Wall of Freedom), the Atlantic & Pacific Pavilions, 56 Pillars, and stands with oak and wheat wreaths. It also has a granite slab with President Roosevelt’s quote, as well as General MacArthur’s quote spanning three granite slabs.
“The World War II Memorial is more than stone and granite—it is a living testament to the courage, sacrifice, and unity of a generation that changed the course of history. As we welcome this powerful tribute to Madisonville, may we never forget the price of freedom and always honor the heroes who secured it for us.” – Mayor Kevin Cotton
The exhibits will be on display at the Madisonville City Park beginning September 11th – 15th. Visitors will have the opportunity to walk along the walls, reflect, and pay their respects to those who served and sacrificed.
