Holiday Fun in Hopkins County Dec. 2-4, 2016

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Kick off your Christmas festivities this weekend, December 2-4, in Madisonville and Hopkins County.

On Friday, December 2, visit the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts for “A Community Christmas with MCC Singers” at 7 pm. The Madisonville Community College Singers annual musical celebration will also feature the Hopkins County Schools’ Combined High School Choir and Stellar Dance students.

Get lovely fresh wreaths, natural decorations, bulk herbs and spices, and gifts from the garden at Christmas at Munn’s on Saturday, December 3, 9 am-1 pm. This event, sponsored by the Pennyroyal Herb Club, is held at Munn’s Historic Schoolhouse, 1640 Princeton Road, Madisonville.

Enjoy free ice skating at the parking lot between First United Bank Plaza and the Madisonville Police Department on Center Street, Saturday, December 3, 10 am-4pm. Live musical performances will occur throughout the day at the First United Bank Plaza. Stay in downtown Madisonville for the Noon Kiwanis Christmas Parade, beginning at 5 pm.

The City of Hanson will have a Christmas parade at 10 am on Saturday morning. Shop local vendors at the Holiday Bazaar at The Hub in downtown Hanson beginning at 10 am. Children are welcome to make ornaments and decorate cookies at The Hub’s Kid’s Christmas Party at 11 am.

In Dawson Springs, Santa will visit Pennyrile Forest State Park on December 3. Come for a buffet dinner at the Clifty Creek Restaurant from 4 pm-8 pm. Afterward, get your free picture with Saint Nick in the Lodge Lobby from 5 pm-7 pm. Stop by the park’s gift shop for discounts all day.

On Sunday, December 4, 1 pm-5 pm, get in the Christmas spirit at the Holiday Tour of Homes, sponsored by the Woman’s Club of Madisonville. Tickets are $12 and are available at the Hopkins County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Mark of Distinction, The Gift Horse, and Merle Norman. Tickets will also be available the day of the tour at Mahr Park Welcome Center located at 642 Nebo Road.

Dawson Springs Christmas Parade is Sunday, December 4 at 5 pm. Meet Santa and enjoy refreshments after the parade at the Dawson Springs Branch Library, 103 W. Ramsey St.

Experience a 55-year tradition in Madisonville. The Madisonville Community Chorus will present George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” at First Presbyterian Church, 260 W. McLaughlin Ave., on Sunday, December 4 at 6 pm.
