“We are thrilled to offer a 20-show line-up this season with the programming diversity that you’ve come to expect at the Glema Center,” said Toby Roberts, Director of Programs. “From a full symphony to bluegrass to pop music and four Tony Award-winning plays and musicals, there is truly something for everyone. We’ve made our popular MCC Singers concerts free to the public, and admission to many of our events is free to students! Our goal is to make the arts available to all.”
The Center Stage lineup, sponsored by the Hopkins County Tourist & Convention Commission, the City of Madisonville, the Enduring Legacy of Mrs. Glema Mahr, and Old National Bank, includes an evening of iconic television theme music live by the Owensboro Symphony, American Idol Season 21 winner Iam Tongi, Larry, Steve, & Rudy – The Gatlin Brothers, 7 Bridges: The Ultimate Eagles Experience, Sons of Mystro, and The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. The Glema’s US Bank Family Series is sure to be a hit with all ages with The Children’s Nutcracker and iLuminate.
The Glema Mahr Chamber Music Series presents violinist Eunice Kim, classical guitarist Jason Vieaux, pianist Wynona Wang, and the Eykamp String Quartet. The Evelyn & David Smart Coffeehouse Series features “The American Songster” Dom Flemons, jazz/pop/folk group Small Time Napoleon, multi-instrumentalist Monte Skelton and Friends, and eclectic foursome The Third Wheels.
First United Bank & Trust’s Proud Partnership brings Hopkins County Schools’ productions of Annie and Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and Community Theatre presents a winter weekend of dinner theatre with Blithe Spirit and then The Sound of Music as the summer musical. The season rounds out with two Special Events sponsored by Douglas & Janet Berry and offered to the community with free admission: The MCC Singers Community Christmas and The MCC Singers & MNHHS Choir present The Rutter Requiem.
The majority of the events in the 2024-25 Season offer discounted youth tickets. The Chamber Music Series remains free for students, and two of the Center Stage performances—Owensboro Symphony and Sons of Mystro—offer free student tickets with the purchase of adult admission. There are no added fees, whether ticket purchases are made at the box office or online.
“Our season is also full of non-ticketed community events,” added Roberts. “You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the most current information about those.”
As in previous years, a Season Package that includes entry to all ticketed events is available at a 25% discount. A new Flex Package is being offered for 2024-25, allowing patrons to build their own season consisting of 7 to 19 ticketed performances at a 15% discount.
