Independence Bank 3rd Annual Farm to Fork Dinner

Join us for the 3nd annual Independence Bank Farm to Fork Dinner. This 5 course meal will be prepared using locally grown produce, raised by employees at the Independence Bank Green Acre in Mahr Park at Hidden Hills Farm and other local farmers. Sean Stemaly will be performing live! Funds raised will help support the Future Farmers of America, Hopkins County 4-H, the Hopkins County Farmers Market, and the Danny Peyton Memorial Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $76 each and may be reserved at both Madisonville locations. Limited number of tickets available so don't wait! 270-824-1476

First Day Hike

Where: Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, 20781 Pennyrile Lodge Rd, Dawson Springs, KY 42408
Hikers will meet begin a 3.25 mile hike on the park’s Lake Trail. Wear proper clothing and bring your own water, snacks, and hiking stick. This hike is not recommended for children under the age of 5. Leashed dogs are welcome on the hike. Hiking sticks are available for purchase in the park’s gift shop. The hike is free and will last approximately two hours. To register for the hike contact the park naturalist at rebeccae.clark@ky.gov or 1-800-325-1711.

9/11 Heroes Run

6th Annual 9/11 Heroes Run 5K & 1 Mile Walk/Run. The Travis Manion Foundation will host a 5K race in Madisonville to unite the community to remember the sacrifices of the heroes of the September 11th attacks and in the wars since. In its eigth year, the 9/11 Heroes Run will put on a series of races in more than 50 locations across the US and abroad. Last year's event attracted over 1000 people to downtown Madisonville. The Madisonville 9/11 Heroes Run will take place in downtown Madisonville on September 8 at 8 pm (with Opening Ceremony beginning at 7:30 pm and honoring the families of active duty first responders and service members). There will also be a family-friendly 1M fun run/walk. A portion of the proceeds from the race will benefit the Travis Manion Foundation, which offers veterans and families of the fallen unique opportunities to help them take the next step in their journeys and accomplish their personal and professional goals. A large portion of the proceeds will stay in the local community to support the Patrick Rudd Project and provide mini grants to Hopkins County First Responders for equipment and training.
