Senior Bingo Luncheon

Birding Hike at Mahr Park at Hidden Hills Farm

Hike on paved trails and soft trails in the 40 acre woods led by Beverly Carrico and Donna Stricklin. Great time to see fall colors and birds returning to winter in the park. Meet at the Welcome Center and wear sturdy boots or shoes, bring water and a snack, and spray for insects. 270-584-9017

Mad City Kidapalooza

Where: Downtown Madisonville
Join us in downtown Madisonville, KY for our annual Kidapalooza event. This family-friendly festival includes a wide variety of games, inflatables, entertainment, takeaway crafts, contests, and learning opportunities! "Ensuring the Future of Purple Martins" at Mahr Park

Mahr Park is honored to have Larry Melcher come to share his many years of experience and knowledge setting up and caring for large Purple Martin colonies. Mahr Park is home to a large colony that was established prior to Glema Mahrs' passing in 2009. During this past season, park volunteers began a program to monitor the nests and record activity. "The Acoustic Living Room" Songs and Stories with Kathy Mattea

Grammy Award winning singer Kathy Mattea and her longtime collaborator, guitarist Bill Cooley, have shared one of Nashville's most musically rich partnerships for over two decades. The duo welcomes you into The Acoustic Living Room to share songs and stories near and dear to their hearts. A genuine storyteller, Kathy draws inspiration from her Appalachian roots and is a torchbearer for often overlooked musical legacies like those of Hazel Dickens and Jean Ritchie. First Day Hike

Hikers will meet begin a 3.25 mile hike on the park’s Lake Trail. Wear proper clothing and bring your own water, snacks, and hiking stick. This hike is not recommended for children under the age of 5. Leashed dogs are welcome on the hike. Hiking sticks are available for purchase in the park’s gift shop. The hike is free and will last approximately two hours. To register for the hike contact the park naturalist at rebeccae.clark@ky.gov or 1-800-325-1711.

"Batty for Bats at Mahr Park" with Piper Roby

Western Kentucky is home to many unique bat species that are not found in other parts of the state. To discuss bats found in Kentucky, their habitat needs, their importance on the landscape, and the challenges they face, Mahr Park is excited to host Piper Roby to present bat facts and share conservation measures. Piper is the Research Director at Copperhead Environmental Consulting, Inc. and is currently pursuing her PhD on bat migration. Other interests include the use of artificial roosts by bats and bat behavior with regard to weather. For more information, call 270-584-9017.
