Valentine’s Getaway

Come to Pennyrile Forest for a romantic weekend! Festivities will begin with a romantic dinner in our Clifty Creek Restaurant, filled with music and dancing. The package will include: one nights lodging, dinner for two, deluxe continental breakfast for two, and Valentine's entertainment (live music and dance on 2/13/2016). An optional Valentine's Day hike will be available for package guests on Sunday morning (2/14/2016).

Charlotte Dupuy: "Suing for Freedom"

Presented by Elizabeth Lawson Charlotte Dupuy was an enslaved African American woman owned by Congressman and Secretary of State Henry Clay. In 1829, Dupuy sued Clay for her freedom and the freedom of her children. The circuit court decided against Dupuy, but she later was emancipated by Clay. Sponsored by the Kentucky Humanities Council with local support provided by the Estates of Ruth & Sue Anne Salmon. This is a free admission event in recognition of the Glema Center's 25th season. Oil Painting Weekend

If you've always wanted to learn how to paint, this is your weekend! Learn the wet-on-wet method of oil painting by creating your very own 16x20 landscape painting. Fees: $65 for one class or $120 for two classes and the Friday night program. Maximum of 20 participants per class, so sign-up early. 270-797-3421

Dan MacIntosh of Roothog Radio says, “George Jones once recorded a song called ‘Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes’ which wondered if great country singers would come along in the future to take the place of the great old ones from the past… Well, George, maybe your prayer’s been answered. First Day Hike

Where: Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, 20781 Pennyrile Lodge Rd, Dawson Springs, KY 42408
Hikers will meet begin a 3.25 mile hike on the park’s Lake Trail. Wear proper clothing and bring your own water, snacks, and hiking stick. This hike is not recommended for children under the age of 5. Leashed dogs are welcome on the hike. Hiking sticks are available for purchase in the park’s gift shop. The hike is free and will last approximately two hours. We plan to continue with guided hikes on the first of every month in 2016. In this community theatre presentation of the play by Tom Stoppard, feuding theatre critics Birdboot and Moon, are swept into the whodunit they are viewing. In the hilarious spoof of Agatha Christie-like melodramas that follows, the critics become dangerously implicated in the lethal activities of an escaped madman as the mists rise about isolated Muldoon Manor. Danú: A St. Patrick's Day Celebration
