Evolved Imagery: Paintings by Carl Berges

Evolved Imagery: Paintings by Carl Berges March 6 through May 28, 2015 The show is composed of paintings done from 2012 to January 2015. Mr. Berges currently works in two media, transparent watercolor and oils. He is a signature member of the Kentucky Watercolor Society and has membership in the Southern Watercolor Society. His works appear in academic and private collections throughout the United States and Italy. This group of paintings are all abstract works with both geometric and organic compositions. “My approach with abstract art is to begin with no direction and explore color, texture, and shapes and allow by subconscious to direct my application of pigment.”-Carl Berges

Community Education - Cupcake Deliciousness

Learn basic fondant techniques to top off your cupcakes. Pure deliciousness! You will learn how to embellish your cupcakes with miniature bows, quilled flowers, and tear drop flowers. Instructor Glenn Riggs. Place: Brown Badgett Center Room 132 Fee: $20 supply list provided.

Camper Appreciation Weekend

In order to show campers how much Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park appreciates them, we are offering a special rate of two nights camping for the price of one! There will be a full schedule of events beginning Friday evening. Programs will have an Arbor Day and Earth Day-oriented theme. 270-797-3421

Mule & Draft Horse Days

APR 25

9 am to 4 pm
Where: Dawson Springs Spec Building, Hwy 109 and Hwy 62, Dawson Springs, Kentucky
Mule & Draft Horse Days will take place on April 25th. Events include a cruise-in, antique tractors and equipment, food & drinks. Vendors, arts, crafts and food start at 9am. A parade will start at 11am. Live music will start at 12pm. A wagon show starts at 1pm. The Draft Horse Pull will be at 2pm. No admission costs however donations will be accepted. White Plains Civil War Festival

The White Plains Civil War Festival will be an entertaining and educational experience for the whole family on April 25 & 26! Hosted by the 8th Ky. Confederate States of America. Saturday, April 25 White Plains Masonic Lodge 9am – Community Wide Yard Sale 11am - Car Show (1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Trophy) Community Center Building 1pm – Portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln by professional actress Trish Clark, Ky Chautauqua Performer White Plains Memorial Park 2pm – Veterans Memorial Service (wreath laying, rifle salute by Hopkins Co Honor Guard), Retired Army Master Sgt Doug Bullock will be the M.C. Hopkins Co Central Jr ROTC will serve as color guard. Flags of all branches will be on display and all service songs will be played during veterans recognition. Community Education - Fashion Fun

Where: Madisonville Community College, 2000 College Drive, Madisonville, KY
Come enjoy an afternoon making fashionable wearables! We will make a skirt, scarf, and accessories with just a few t-shirts in a great upcycling project. No sewing involved, and you can wear your completed projects that day. This would be a great activity for a girl age 8-14 and an adult to sign-up and complete together. Instructor Jennifer Welch. Downtown Gallery Hop

First Day Hike

MAY 1

Where: Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park, 20781 Pennyrile Lodge Rd, Dawson Springs, KY 42408
Hikers will meet begin a 3.25 mile hike on the park’s Lake Trail. Wear proper clothing and bring your own water, snacks, and hiking stick. This hike is not recommended for children under the age of 5. Leashed dogs are welcome on the hike. Hiking sticks are available for purchase in the park’s gift shop. The hike is free and will last approximately two hours. We plan to continue with guided hikes on the first of every month in 2015. 21st Annual "Forrest's First" Battle of Sacramento

Hopkins County Tourism Madisonville Open Disc Golf Tournament

Where: Madisonville City Park, Madisonville, Ky
The tournament will be held at the Madisonville City Park's disc golf course. PDGA A-tier professionals and amateurs will complete 1 round of 27 holes each day with a limit of 150 players!. Over $2000 cash added to pros and over $2000 prizes added to amateurs. Lunch will be included in the park on Saturday. Free drink cart running all weekend.
