Carryin’ On The Tradition VIII Piecemakers Quilt Club Exhibit

Where: Anna P Baker Gallery, Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, 2000 College Dr. Madisonville KY
The Piecemakers Quilt Club of Hopkins County will feature a variety of special exhibits in the show including: A Home of the Brave Quilt that will be donated to a fallen soldiers family, a Baby Quilt exhibit showcasing the continuing service project of providing quilts to the Baptist Health NICU, and a Feed Sack Display including a quilt made with original feed sacks from the 1930’s. Additional exhibits will include an Underground Railroad Quilt section with replica sampler quilts showing blocks that are said to have been used to aid escaped slaves seeking freedom via the underground railroad, class exhibits from braided table runners to full size quilts, and a display of sample items from the Felonious Quilter’s Program, a program operating in a men’s prison and supported by donations of fabrics, thread and batting from guild members. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 2-3:30 pm. One Million Cups

1 Million Cups (1MC) is a simple way to engage entrepreneurs in communities around the world. Each week, the 1MC program offers two local entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their startups to a diverse audience of mentors, advisors, and entrepreneurs. Presenters prepare a 6 minute educational presentation and engage in 20 minutes of feedback and questioning after they present. Entrepreneurs gain insight into possible ways they can improve their businesses, gather realtime feedback, connect with a community that truly cares about their progress, and walk away feeling like they have advanced their business. The audience also learns a great deal from the presentations. Whether this is through passively listening or deeply engaging with the entrepreneurs, there is much to learn every week from these dynamic and diverse communities. Hanson's 3rd Annual BBQ Blast-Off

Lighting of the grill for the start of the Hanson BBQ Blast-Off. A live band will be playing for your enjoyment. Run Through the Forest 5K Race

4th Annual 5K “Porker”/Color Run

4th annual 5K “Porker”/Color Run. Registration will be at 7:30AM with the run beginning at 8:30AM. Cost is $25 and includes a t-shirt. Stay Fit 24's Boot Camp for Charity

Stay Fit 24 Trainer's Greg Vaughn & Ben Campbell are offering a Boot Camp for all of Madisonville! Boot camp will be geared toward anyone interested in training for a 5K. Boot camp will include: proper warm up techniques, training program, nutritional guidelines and a fun workout for any fitness level! Donations will be encouraged and all money raised will go directly toward "Light of Chance" organization. Another chance to attend will be October 4 at 9am. Madisonville is an Adventure Race is an exciting urban adventure. This exciting race offers teams the chance to solve clues and complete mental and physical challenges while discovering Madisonville. Men, Women and Co-Ed teams of two will start at 9:30am at a cost of $60. Family & Friends teams with up to four participants start at 10:00am for a cost of $45. The 30th Annual Christ the King Old Fashioned Barbecue Picnic

The 30th annual Christ the King “Old Fashioned” barbeque picnic is Saturday, September 20 from 4-8PM. Famous slow cooked pork, mutton, chicken, burgoo, and all the fixings. All you can eat is $12/adult $6/children 4-10 and Free for under 4 and carryout is available. Bulk carry-out meat is $9/pound We will have the traditional cake wheel, a beer garden, and free live entertainment on Stage from 4-8 PM with Six Toed Cousin beginning at 6PM. There will be hourly money giveaways beginning at 5PM with the grand prize drawing of $1,000 at 8PM. Other numerous basket raffles. Raffles will be given away beginning at 8PM. Numerous activities for kids including inflatable obstacle course, slide, bounce house, games, cotton candy, lemon shakeups, etc. Come early and plan to spend the evening! Chrysler Test Drive event will be held where every test drive results in a donation to Christ the King. Sign-ups for the 4th annual 5K “Porker”/Color Run. Count This Penny- Americana

Count This Penny was founded by Amanda and Allen Rigell as a songwriting duo in 2009.
