Picture Perfect Fall Foliage Spots in Hopkins County

Fall has finally hit Hopkins County. While every season here is gorgeous, watching the leaves change color and fall in the autumn months is something extra special. We’ve gathered a few of our favorite fall foliage hot spots to make sure this fall is your best season yet!

Take a Walk through Mahr Park Arboretum

With paved and soft trails that explore over 40-acres of this quiet reserve, Mahr Park Arboretum is the perfect place for an autumn stroll. Keep an eye out for wildlife like deer and birds while you explore – you never know what you’ll find! If you’re feeling extra adventurous, grab a kayak and paddle out on Lake PeeWee for unique views of the landscape.

Take a Drive through the County

It doesn’t matter if you’re on the Pennyrile Parkway or a lesser-traveled back road, the trees lining your drive will offer quite a view! Take an afternoon (or more!) to wind through our roads exploring every nook and cranny of our gorgeous county. You might even find a group off fellow car fans to take a drive with!

Take a Hike through the Pennyrile Nature Trail

The Pennyrile Nature Trail stretches 14 miles from the trail head at Tradewater Canoe and Kayak in Dawson Spring to the Lodge at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park. Enjoy views of the Tradewater River and Lake Beshear while on this moderate hike through the forest. Don’t want to hike alone? Join a guided hike of the Pennyrile Nature Trail or one of the trails at Pennyrile State Forest Resort Park!

Take a Bike around Grapevine Lake

Grapevine Lake features 4 miles of mountain biking trails that are waiting for you to enjoy! Grab your bike and spend a day peddling through the forest in this 188-acre park. Of course, you can extend your day by biking the trails at Mahr Park, around the city parks, or on many of the roads around the county!
