Glema Center Fall 2019 Season Brings Diverse Acts

The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts has announced the schedule for their Fall 2019 season. These diverse acts are highlighted by a Center Stage Series featuring the great hits of the band America, heartfelt country ballads of Hunter Hayes, and a scintillating tribute to David Bowie from Complexions Contemporary Ballet.

Featuring founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, America brings their 50th anniversary tour to the Glema Center on Friday, September 27. Take a trip down memory lane with hits: “A Horse with No Name”, “Sister Golden Hair”, “You Can Do Magic”, “Ventura Highway”, “Lonely People”, “I Need You”, “Tin Man”, and many more.

Multi-platinum selling recording artist Hunter Hayes will take Center Stage on Saturday, November 9. Hayes burst onto the scene in 2011 when his self-titled debut album hit No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart. The album’s second single, “Wanted”, topped the Hot Country Songs Chart, making him the youngest male artist to reach No. 1.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet reinvents dance through a groundbreaking mix of methods, styles and cultures. With “Star Dust – A Tribute to David Bowie”, along with “Bach 25”, a thrilling night of dance is in store at the Glema Center on Tuesday, November 19.

Immerse yourself in a musical experience when you sit on-stage with musicians for the Glema Mahr Chamber Music Series and the Hancock Bank and Trust Coffeehouse Series. The Chamber Music Series will present Evansville Symphony’s Eykamp String Quartet on September 17 and clarinet virtuoso Yoonah Kim on November 12. Enjoy coffee and desserts during the Coffeehouse Series performances from singer/songwriter Joan Shelley on September 13, and Nashville-based Phil Madeira Quintet on December 13.

Step right up ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, to the US Bank Family Special featuring Cirque Mechanics on the Center Stage on Saturday, November 2. “42FT – A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels” dares you to leap into the circus ring and experience the timelessness of this evolving art form.

The Glema Center lineup includes a First United Bank Proud Partnership presentation of “Matilda the Musical” on Friday, October 25. And on December 6, the MCC Singers will present their annual Christmas concert, featuring Jazz vocalist, Jaimee Paul.
