Kentucky Monthly readers have chosen their favorite fall retreats and Ruby Lodge at Spring Lake Woods was selected! Ruby Lodge can get noisy at times. Those Canadian Geese can really raise a din when they settle on the dock at Spring Lake. “They come usually the 15th or 16th of October and stay here for at least a month, maybe longer or until it gets cold, says Jenny Gibson, the lodge manager. Gibson said the geese and other wildlife are abundant on the 70 acres of primarily wooded property, affording guests a much-needed getaway from the everyday - and the occasional glimpses of a bald eagle, blue heron, deer and foxes. “We have a lot of guests who just like to get out and walk around and just be peaceful,” Gibson said. “Our philosophy is that if you want to be left alone, that’s just fine. However, if you like the more social bed and breakfast experience, we’re also more than happy to talk and help you any way we can.” Guests also can enjoy a hot tub, a pool in the warmer months and great meals. For reservations, directions and more information, log on to www.madisonvillebandb.com.
